About Out of Commission

Out of Commission is a weekly email newsletter started in May 2025 by The Jacky Winter Group.

For years we kept our own internal databases of who was making/doing what across the global illustration and animation scenes. Inspired by sites like Brand New, we decided to open things and share them with everyone.

Each week our agents and producers comb through the internet and assemble the best commissioned illustration and animation projects from around the world and package it into a simple, free, no-frills newsletter with direct links to the artists, clients, and agents for each piece.

Relaunched in October 2026 on ghost.org, the Out of Commission website now features a rich archive of all our previous issues, with individual projects easier to search by artist, agency, or client.

The Job Board

Along with the newsletter, we have also launched a related job board. With so many people doing call-outs across the internet for specific illustration styles, we wanted to try a bit of an experiment here to see what a visual-first job board might look like. The board currently supports ads for everything from full-time in-house jobs, to freelance call-outs referencing a specific style, to even personal commissions.
