Our pick of the week has to go to LinkedIN's fancypants new suite of illustrations done by BUCK. This was definitely one majorly overdue update and it really elevates the entire platform. Part of me misses those old, naff pieces that were either stock illustrations or something done in passing. Funny how so much illustrated work that breaks through can start out as an afterthought, especially on online platforms that we use so often (we're looking at you, Fail Whale).
Having developed similar illustration suites and visual languages for other platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and AirBnB, it does feel like it's BUCK's world, and we're just living in it, but at the same time it's impossible to deny the ongoing and enduring appeal of the style they have perfected.
