Issue 36
The latest commissioned illustrations from Moncler, Movistar, 1st Dibs and more!
So! We did have a pick of the week this week but just before posting we found that the piece was most likely made with GenAI which was a bit surprising as it was for a major brand that champions the handmade. We removed the piece from the issue, which was a bit of a tough call - The piece (which was an animation) was obviously successful - it stopped our scrolling in it's tracks, and if it wasn't for the comments and a bit more digging we would have been none the wiser. For the time being we're only highlighting pieces that are (as far as we know), all naturally made, but obviously that line is going to get increasingly blurry in the coming years. It's hard to deny that there was artistry involved in the crafting of the piece, but the 'hard' problem of provenance in any AI model is really going to be a sticky one. For the time being, OOC will remain an AI-free zone, but you'll have to make up your own mind for the pick of the week as it's already too late at night to be writing newsletter intros. Enjoy!
