Issue 33
Commissioning original art is real magic.
Hello everyone! We're back for another year of ignoring the ongoing terrors of the world and getting focussed on some wonderful pictures, which can offset said terrors on occasion.
Speaking of which, just taking a short break from our regular program to share this small article I wrote as a new years resolution as such. I know a lot of you reading this are commissioners of illustration and hopefully this might resonate with you!
Speaking of commissioning original artwork, here's a bit of our top picks from over the last few weeks, including our pick of the week which is Rayan Takhedmit's work for Lacoste. I'm not exactly what to call this style just yet, but we're seeing it across so many major brands social feeds last year like Rimowa and Hermés, and now it's definitely mainstreaming into newer brands like Lacoste, and even Porsche's recent animated campaign that was full of BTS animation imagery to help prove that it wasn't AI generated (and also just to have more of that sweet content!).
Speaking to others over the holidays, it feels like this is going to be a good year for illustration and animation, so here's hoping for more. Thanks for reading!
